Michigan Policy Summit 2008

About the Michigan Policy Summit

Michigan Policy Summit 2008 is a project of the Michigan Prospect in conjunction with representatives from the environmental, civil rights, faith based, LGBT, education, labor, reproductive rights, student, disability, health care reform, and human service communities.

For our inaugural summit in September 2007, we polled Michigan's progressive community to find out which top three issues would set the course of our work and the three issues that rose to the top were education, environment, and health care.

On May 10th, 2008, 800 progressives from all across Michigan will build on the foundation laid out from last year as we advance the broader progressive movement with respect to health care, education, and the environment. This Summit will have three main objectives: 1) to craft effective and progressive public policies; 2) provide tangible skills for individuals and organizations; 3) create new networks and cohesion amongst progressive activists.

It is not good enough for us to conceive of the type of Michigan we want to live in. In the end, our all of our energies must be directed towards making sure our public policy reflects our collective values of social justice, equality, and fairness. We need your help and the time is now.

Come join us.

Summit goals: Galvanize, Empower, Provide, Create, Build
